The problem

Base runs drift.

A run intended to build your aerobic base can easily become harder than planned. A hill, hot weather or the temptation to pick up the pace can push your heart rate above your target zone before you notice.

aerozone lets you know when it’s time to adjust, helping you keep your training focused on the effort you intended.

How it works

Your run. Your zone. Real-time coaching.

  1. Heart rate band setup screen with an easy run band of 137 to 152 bpm
    Step 1

    Set your zone

Use aerozone’s suggested heart-rate zone or choose your own targets.

  2. Run screen while warming up at 92 bpm
    Step 2

    Start running

Connect your heart-rate sensor and start your run.

  3. Run screen showing 164 bpm, too high, telling you to ease off
    Step 3

    Stay on target

aerozone alerts you when your heart rate moves outside your target zone, helping you adjust your effort without checking your screen.

Why build your aerobic base

The foundation of your running.

Your aerobic base supports your ability to sustain effort over time. Building it is an important part of becoming a stronger, more capable endurance runner.

Build lasting endurance

Aerobic training helps your heart and muscles become better at supporting sustained effort.1

Support better running performance

A strong aerobic base helps you maintain your effort as your running distance and training develop.

Train consistently

Lower-intensity sessions play an important role in a balanced running programme, alongside harder workouts.

Your training zone

A target zone you can make your own.

aerozone suggests a starting heart-rate zone using an estimate of your maximum heart rate, or a value you provide, together with your resting heart rate where available.

Prefer to use your own targets? Adjust the upper and lower limits to suit your training. You can also save separate zones for regular and long runs.

Your suggested zone is a starting point. You can adjust it as you learn more about your training and how different levels of effort feel.

After every run

See how much time you spent in, above and below your target zone, your longest uninterrupted stretch in zone, and key statistics such as heart rate, pace and distance where available. Review your previous sessions in History.

Compatibility

What you need.

An iPhone

Running iOS 17 or later.

A compatible Bluetooth heart-rate sensor

aerozone uses the standard Bluetooth heart-rate profile supported by many chest straps and other heart-rate monitors. A chest strap is a good choice for reliable heart-rate readings3, while compatible arm bands and other devices that broadcast heart-rate data over Bluetooth can also be used.

FAQ

Questions runners ask.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. aerozone works on your iPhone with a compatible Bluetooth heart-rate sensor. Apple Watch itself is not currently supported as an aerozone heart-rate sensor.

Which sensors work?

Sensors that use the standard Bluetooth heart-rate profile, such as most chest straps. Learn about compatible sensors

Why heart rate rather than pace?

Pace alone doesn’t tell you how hard your body is working. Hills, heat and fatigue can all change the effort required to maintain a particular pace. Heart rate provides another way to guide your training intensity.

What if I have to walk to stay in my zone?

That’s normal, especially if you’re new or coming back. Staying in your zone matters more than your pace.

Will it stop my music?

No. Its sounds play over Spotify or Apple Music, even with your screen locked.

Does it work on a treadmill?

Yes. Choose indoor mode.

Is it a medical device?

No. It’s a training tool. Please read the safety note below.
